The Team

Our passion for Station Approach is reflected in our team’s approach – a determination to make this vision the best that it can possibly be, by listening to each and every resident in Winchester and by developing a set of proposals that are ambitious, forward looking and deliverable.

We have a highly skilled and dedicated team to help deliver this ambitious vision:

Winchester City Council serves the needs of the residents and businesses within the Winchester District. The council values collaboration and empowerment and will promote these in order to create the best possible solutions for the welfare of our residents and the enhancement of our district. Focussing on protecting our commitment to the climate emergency and working closely with the community, we will work with the project team to see which, if any, of our sites could come forward for development as part of a regeneration scheme for Station Approach.

The Council is a significant landowner in the Station Approach area. These landholdings consist of Gladstone Street carpark and leased parking adjacent, the former register office, Cattlemarket and Worthy Lane car parks.

Network Rail is the owner and infrastructure manager of the UK railway network. Network Rail develops regional and major stations both directly and in partnership with property developers, local authorities and other landowners. Network Rail also provides railway development expertise through its property team and strategic advice on development proposals around the railway including operational, commercial and regulatory implications. Network Rail is the owner of three of the car parks located within Station Approach.

LCR is a purpose-led, values-driven, publicly owned sustainable regeneration company, with a track record of creating exciting new destinations for people to live, work and experience. It has delivered schemes such as the multi-billion-pound redevelopments of King’s Cross and Stratford City.

Network Rail and LCR have a nationwide collaboration agreement. Working with Winchester City Council, Network Rail and the local community, LCR will use its expertise in station-led regeneration to help review any opportunities for a new vision for Station Approach.

South Western Railway (SWR) is the train company that runs services through Winchester and along the South West Main Line, as well as managing Winchester station. Serving over 200 stations every day, our network has historically been one of the busiest in the UK.
